Biography

My name is Tracy, as you know if you've gotten this far, and I teach high school English. I've been married to a brilliant designer/photographer since 1994, and we have two impossibly adorable - if I do say so myself - grade school-aged kids; one boy and one girl.

I started writing when I received my first diary at about the age of eight (I still have that diary, by the way) and have been either journaling or writing stories ever since. Educationally speaking, I have a Master's of Science in Literacy and Language Education from Indiana University, as well as another in Secondary Education with a concentration in teaching Spanish and English as a New Language (also from Indiana University). My undergraduate degree is a BA in International Languages from Cameron University in Oklahoma, where I also studied anthropology, concentrating in archaeology. Currently, I'm working on my MFA in writing. It sounds obnoxious I know, but I just really like school.

I speak Spanish and Portuguese, and enough Italian to get myself into, but not so much out of trouble. When my kids are grown and I've learned enough about life to appreciate the destinations for all I'm sure they hold in store, I want to go to Palermo, where my father's side of the family is from, and to Calabria, where my mother's side of the family is from. With any luck, I'll discover something recognizes me there. I just hope, I don't resemble some 19th century mafia donna great, great grandmother or something, because, yeah, that would probably complicate things.
